Yesterday, February 4, Coldplay performed as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, where they were accompanied by a choir. The videos below see them performing “The Astronaut” and a mashup of “Human Heart” and “Fix You.”
On the edition of Saturday Night Live that Pedro Pascal hosted last month, Coldplay was officially announced as the musical guest. The group previously performed on SNL in November 2019 when they sang “Orphans” and “Everyday Life” from the same album.
Yesterday, Coldplay took the stage to perform “The Astronaut,” their collaboration with BTS’s Jin, before performing a mashup of the songs “Human Heart” from “Music Of The Spheres” and the classic “X&Y” song “Fix You.”
In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Coldplay performed “Clocks” late last month.
Recently, Coldplay announced four more North American concerts, for which tickets are currently on sale. After returning to South America for a series of postponed headline shows, the band is also planning a tour of Europe and the United Kingdom.
The band has also hinted that their forthcoming album, “Moon Music,” is almost complete. Chris Martin, the band’s frontman, said: “We’re wrapping on an album called ‘Moon Music,’ which is the second volume of ‘Music Of The Spheres,’ but it won’t be released for a little while. This year, we could start performing some tunes.
The 1975, Inhaler, and Stormzy were among the artists Coldplay disclosed they were listening to when they announced they were back in the studio at the end of the previous year.
Additionally, they have hinted at working with Nile Rodgers, the guitarist for Chic. “We’re all in the room together and it’s kind of like a mystical thing,” added Rodgers, who also stated that he “had a blast” working with Coldplay.
